We welcome you to Bunscoil Lughaidh Naofa a thriving girls school girls school situated in a peaceful parkland surrounded by trees and nature in Cloughvalley in Carraig Machaire Róis.
Our roll of count of 270 girls are cared for in no less than eleven mainstream classes giving teachers space to explore the uniqueness and cater for the different personality of each child. We have a language support teacher and three special education teachers who ensure any child requiring additional help in a particular curricular area will get it. Two committed special needs assistants are on hand to help with our many activities. Our caretaker, cleaners and diligent secretary, all ensure the smooth, efficient running of our school.
A hard working and committed teaching staff promote a caring holistic approach to education focusing on the development of the full potential of each child. Faith formation and the message of the gospel are an inherent part of school life where children feel included in the family of God, show respect for one another and tolerance for difference.
We are lucky to boast an excellent Board of Management and Parents Association who work collaboratively with principal and staff for the benefit of the pupils.
While the school building is relatively new we make constant improvements to keep it in pristine condition for the comfort of pupils and staff. In the past ten years alone the school has been re-roofed, the entire building insulated, the heating system upgraded, the car park extended, the playground tarmacademed, new pvc windows fitted, the entire grounds fenced and a complete electrical and fire safety refurbishment. Every classroom is fitted with smartboards, laptops and tablets are provided for children as well as graded readers for every class group and a complete new consignment of sports equipment.
In the summer of 2025, the following upgrades were over the summer holidays:
- We have had 14 solar panels installed on the back roof of the school which are feeding directly in to our electricity. We look forward to monitoring the input they will have to our school in terms of electricity usage and helping the environment.
- Our PE storage room was fitted out with shelves and storage facilities.
- Our fibre broadband was installed and upgraded over the holidays.
- The outside of the school; walls, paving and courtyards were power hosed and cleaned. The rails and gates at the front of the school were cleaned and painted.
- Fencing on the school grounds as also been painted and a new fence has been put up in the school yard.
- We had an intercom and camera system fitted at Gate A.
- Hand rails were installed at these gates also for everyone’s safety. Hand Rails have also been installed at the back steps where the girls gain access to the church and for library visits as well as swimming at the pop-up pool to ensure safety for all.
- Our 5th, 5th/6th and 6th class classrooms have had new flooring installed and are looking really well.
Every child in Bunscoil Lughaidh Naofa will discover her interest and talent should it be in the field of sport (football, swimming), in the arts (pottery, singing), in nature (Green schools gardening) in debating or quizzes.
