We welcome you to Bunscoil Lughaidh Naofa a thriving girls school, situated in a peaceful parkland surrounded by trees and nature in Cloughvalley in Carraig Machaire Rois.
Our roll count of 255 girls are cared for in no less than eleven mainstream classes giving teachers space to explore the uniqueness and cater for the different personality of each child. We have 2 language support teachers and three special education teachers who ensure any child requiring additional help in a particular curricular area will get it. Two committed special needs assistants are on hand to help with our many activities and children with particular needs. Our caretaker, cleaners and diligent secretary, all ensure the smooth, efficient running of our school.
A hard working and committed teaching staff promote a caring, holistic approach to education focusing on the development of the full potential of each child. Faith formation and the message of the gospel are an inherent part of school life where children feel included in the family of God, show respect for one another and tolerance for difference.
We are lucky to boast an excellent Board of Management and Parents Association who work collaboratively with the principal and staff for the benefit of the pupils.
While the school building is relatively new, we make constant improvements to keep it in pristine condition for the comfort of pupils and staff. In the past ten years alone the school has been re-roofed;, the entire building insulated, the heating system upgraded, the car park extended, the playground re-surfaced, new PVC windows fitted, the entire grounds fenced and in the summer of 2020 a complete electrical and fire safety refurbishment. In July 2025, we had 14 solar panels installed on the South East facing roof of our building. We also had our PE storage area shelved out. 3 classrooms got new flooring and fencing the yard was removed and replaced. Every classroom is fitted with interactive smart boards, laptops are provided for children as well as graded readers for every class group and a complete new consignment of sports equipment. We have a full set of tablets for use in the classrooms.
In line with the new Primary Maths curriculum we have an extensive resource of maths equipment to enable hands on and interactive learning for the children.
Every child in Bunscoil Lughaidh Naofa will discover her interest and talent, should it be in the field of sport (football, swimming, camogie, handball, badminton), in the arts (pottery, singing), in nature (Green schools gardening), in debating or quizzes.
